Deliciouslyorkshire joins forces with Welcome To Yorkshire

The Board of Directors of the Regional Food Group of Yorkshire and Humberside (deliciouslyorkshire) has agreed in principle to merge with Welcome To Yorkshire. The new partnership has yet to have the details enshrined in a formal legal agreement, but the marriage of the two organisations bodes very well for the future of all businesses engaged in the food and drink industries.

Deliciouslyorkshire has over several decades given assistance in nurturing emergent food and drink businesses in Yorkshire by facilitating commercial opportunities through networking, promotion, sales and training activities. The organisation has survived many changes and this new initiative reflects the changing marketplace for small businesses and the ability of Welcome To Yorkshire to market what is great about Yorkshire.

Welcome To Yorkshire has the ambition to add to its results generated and award winning marketing of the county by embracing Yorkshire food and drink as its next leading project. From the unquestionable success of promoting cycling, Welcome To Yorkshire has targeted the doubling of food and drink business in the next five years. The aim is to make Yorkshire the gastronomic capital of Europe no less!

The deliciouslyorkshire brand will be the image of the future food and drink activity across all marketing platforms. The skills and experience of all delivering current services will continue to be available to members of both organisations, delivering the same and additional benefits of membership. This will include promotion across all Welcome To Yorkshire platforms both online and offline and events and shows. There will be one membership for all, but receiving twice the benefit. Even the deliciouslyorkshire Taste Awards will be held to complement the Welcome To Yorkshire White Rose Awards.

Judy Bell, Chair of deliciouslyorkshire, said “This merging of like-minded people, passionate and dedicated to the wonderful world of Yorkshire, is great news for our members. These are often micro and small businesses seeking to establish themselves in a difficult market and now they have additional opportunities to grow and become the super success they deserve. Welcome To Yorkshire is an obvious partner to maximise the potential of our members.”

Carl Les, director of Welcome To Yorkshire, said “This merger has been a long time coming, an ambition of mine to enable a consolidation of resources into a mighty force of support for all members of both organisations. We intend to do for food and drink what we did for cycling – a massive challenge, but well worth the effort.”
