HAMPER YOURSELF A MERRY CHRISTMAS: GOURMET TRAIL COMPANY TEAMS UP WITH BBC RADIO FOR ULTIMATE FOOD TOUR

Gourmand-on-the-go Sue Nelson, founder of Yorkshire Food Finder, has been tasked with creating a ‘Virtual Christmas Hamper’ for BBC Radio York as it uncovers the best bites in the county this festive season.

Sue will join presenters Adam Tomlinson and Anna Wallace as they take a tasty tour of her top ten North Yorkshire food producers in a new radio series, which airs every weekday from December 11-24.

Thanks to her famously expert knowledge of Yorkshire producers and chefs, Sue will be giving the radio presenters a whistle-stop tour of 10 stand-out local foodies for the show, including Paul Talling’s free-range Loose Birds at Harome; Martin Richardson at Richardsons of Woodthorpe butchers, York; Ampleforth Abbey, famous for its cider; Botton Creamery, where people with learning difficulties help with the cheese making; Great Yorkshire Brewery; top chef Andrew Pern at The Star at Harome; Ryedale Vineyards, with its 10,000 vines; Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil; Bracken Hill Fine Foods, Elvington; the Bluebird Bakery, York, and Guppy’s Chocolates at Clifton Moor.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be banging the drum for Yorkshire’s food producers once again,” says Sue. “There’s so many exciting things going on with food in this county, and such extraordinary talent and skill, that it’s been hard to whittle it down to 10 and to be honest we need vastly more than the 12 days of Christmas to do them all justice!”

Radio York’s Virtual Christmas Hamper airs on Adam and Anna’s afternoon show between noon and 4pm every weekday from December 11.
