Hinchliffe’s Farm Shop has won a Great Taste gold star for its back bacon this week ““ which the judges described as “reminiscent of the 1950s”!
Hinchliffe’s, which has already won numerous awards for its meaty products, scooped one gold star for its Yorkshire Fed Rindless Back Bacon at this year’s awards, with the judges calling it “good looking, with a good old fashioned flavour”.
This is the second year in a row that the Netherton farm shop’s bacon has been selected, out of 10,000 entries, to receive a gold star at the prestigious awards.
Hinchliffe’s Simon Hirst said he was delighted with the award. “We’re well known for our home bred beef, our sausages and our champion pork pies but it’s great to get recognition for our back bacon again too,” he said. “Our highly-skilled butchers put a lot of old-fashioned care and attention into our meat products ““ the long-forgotten skills you would have found in a butcher’s shop 60 or more years ago ““ and it’s great to know the judges saw that too.”
