The shortlist of nominations for our 2021 YORKSHIRE FOOD HERO award is here!

Nominated by Yorkshire food and drink businesses who were invited to nominate someone who they felt had gone above and beyond to help their peers and promote Yorkshire food and drink, this category is decided via an online public vote.  

Our shortlist represents some familiar faces within our industry who are all very worthy winners!

David Lishman – Lishman’s of Ilkley 

Founded in 1986, Lishman’s of Ilkley has proven to be a true success story with a huge and ever-expanding range of award-winning products.

Sourcing their ingredients locally, Lishman’s support regional farmers who share their commitment to husbandry, welfare and outstanding quality. Renowned for their sausages, (national Champion of Champions, twice!) bacon, hams and salami, their shop has everything you’d expect from an award-winning, independent butcher – and their pies are pretty good too!

Karl and Mandy Avison – Cedar Barn Farm Shop

A husband and wife team who have built their award winning farm shop into a major visitor attraction and continue to win awards for their fantastic food and hospitality.

Passionate about food, farming and the community, everything they sell and serve is either grown themselves or sourced locally with the aim to promote impeccable provenance and be as eco-friendly as possible in all areas of their business.

Rennick Hodgson – Coffee Care

Recently retired, Rennick is a true Yorkshireman having worked tirelessly for the last 50 years to promote all that is to be loved about Yorkshire food and drink.  Not only very much part of the Skipton and northern community, he understood the importance of the business community too.

Taking the provenance of his coffees seriously, he visited countries including Colombia, Costa Rica and Jamaica to understand how the coffees were grown and how it impacted on the communities it came from.

Adam and Jennie Palmer – Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil

A true powerhouse couple of farming and food in Yorkshire.  The Palmers are a force to be reckoned with, simultaneously running several successful and award-winning businesses including Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil, Charlie & Ivy’s and their new Honest Bean company from their family farm in the Wolds.  

Actively involved in all areas of the industry and always supportive of fellow food and drink businesses, their multi award-winning ranges can be found on the shelves of farm shops and independent retailers throughout the country and beyond.

Tracey Baty – Three 60 Marketing & PR

The lady with the words!  Passionate, knowledgeable and supportive as well as prolific in her press column inches, Tracey is responsible for the PR and marketing of a number of North and East Yorkshire’s most successful food and farming businesses and is held in high regard throughout.
