Yorkshire sourdough maker, Luke’s Bakery, is celebrating its second year in business after a milestone year.
Founded in December 2022 by Luke Jenneson, the East Yorkshire based baker made the switch from banking to baking, utilising his training from Le Cordon Bleu culinary school in London.
After perfecting his products and establishing a local customer base in year one, Luke’s second year has seen the business go from strength-to-strength, recruiting nine new team members, baking thousands of sourdough loaves a week and more than doubling its customer base of shops and hospitality businesses across the region.
Luke said: “I couldn’t have reached this milestone without the incredible support of my brilliant team and our hugely valued local suppliers and customers. From our first loaf to today, it’s been a joy to share our love of baking with a growing community of sourdough enthusiasts.”
Alongside the expansion, the businesses received three prestigious Great Taste Awards in the summer as well as being awarded the Best Bakery Product at the 2024 Deliciously Yorkshire Awards in November.
Luke continues: “The support makes our 2am bakery alarm clocks more than worth it and I can’t wait to share our new look packaging with everyone in the new year.”
As the business embarks on its third year, the team will also be unveiling their new packaging in January for their range of ‘Yorkshire born, Yorkshire bread’ sourdoughs, a project that has been a labour of love for the last six months.
