National Railway Museum to host charity gala in celebration of the Grand Départ 2014

The National Railway Museum, York, is hosting a charity gala dinner on 5 July 2014, celebrating the world of cycling ahead of York’s highly-anticipated Grand Départ 2014.

In aid of charity, Ataxia UK, the Celebration of Cycling gala dinner is part of the National Railway Museum’s Tour de France celebration weekend*, where the Grand Départ will see participants cycling from York to Sheffield.

The gala dinner will take place in the venue’s Station Hall where guests will be treated to a three-course dinner, and coffee and petit fours, served among the museum’s royal carriages, including railway legends such as Queen Victoria’s ‘Palace on Wheels’. A silent auction will be running throughout the evening, with all funds raised going towards Ataxia UK.

On the night, a keynote speech will be delivered by three-time Olympic medallist and double Track World Champion cyclist Rob Hayles. Guests will also be able to enjoy music from live band, Hipshaker.

Alan Cass, sales manager at the National Railway Museum, said: “We are very excited about being part of one of the biggest sporting events of the year, with stage two of the Grand Départ starting here in York. The charity gala is a celebration of the sport, and we hope to raise lots of money for Ataxia UK on the night.”

Tickets are priced at £75.50 per person. Part of the ticket sale will go towards the charity and includes booking fee.
