New Chair Announced For Q Guild of Butchers

An award-winning Yorkshire butcher has been announced as the new chair of the Q Guild of Butchers.

David Lishman of family run Lishman’s of Ilkley, has held Q Guild membership since 2000, and took over as chair in February.

The Q Guild, which acts as a seal of excellence mark for Britain’s best butchers, represents an elite group of the finest quality independent meat retailers in Britain.

Q Guild Members are based throughout the UK, serving £5 million worth of outstanding meat to over a quarter of a million consumers each week.

David, who has taken over the role from Mark Turnbull of Turnbulls of Alnwick said:  “I’m honoured to take on this role at the Q Guild of Butchers.  My own business has been a member for almost 20 years and I’ve truly valued the guild as a way of sharing knowledge, ideas and experience.  Joining a group of like-minded, passionate butchers has allowed my business to continually aim high – and of course, the Q Guild is all about recognising and driving up quality.  It’s a genuinely inspiring group.

“As I start my role as chair, I’d like to focus on using our network of regional meetings to help support members in the guild.  This is such a worthwhile forum for sharing experience and it’s crucial that all our members are able to tap into this and receive value from their membership.”

Lishman’s of Ilkley was first established 30 years ago David, who runs it with his daughter Emma.
