Yorkshire producers’ triumph at ‘Oscars of the food world’.

Businesses from across Yorkshire are celebrating after taking being awarded prestigious industry stars at this year’s Great Taste Awards.

Run by The Guild of Fine Food, The Great Taste scheme is the world’s largest and most trusted food and drink accreditation and attracts nearly 14,000 entries from some 3500 companies every year from across the globe.

In total, Yorkshire businesses too home a total of 226 awards, including 162 1-star, 50 2-stars and 14 3-stars, the highest accolade available at this level.

This year’s winners included 3-stars for products from Dark Woods Coffee and goat milk producer St Helen’s Farm, and 2-stars for Rosalind’s larder, Farmer Copleys, Rosebud Preserves, Rounton Coffee, Shepherds Purse Cheeses, Thorntons Bakehouse & Butcher Warendale Wagyu, Yorkshire Wolds Apple Juice, along with a number of producers awarded a prestigious 1-star award.

Each entry is meticulously blind-tasted by the Guild’s expert judging panel of over 500 food critics, chefs, recipe creators, buyers, retailers, and other specialists in the field of food and drink across 92 judging days, each receiving detailed feedback, whether or not they obtained an award.

John Farrand, managing director of the Guild of Fine Food comments: “It’s hugely important to us at the Guild to inject some positivity into the speciality food & drink industry. Given the economic headwinds that both independent retailers and small & medium producers are facing, the announcement of the 2024 crop of Great Taste stars is now an annual fillip for us all.”
