YORKSHIRE SMOKEHOUSE “ONE OF UK’S MOST OUTSTANDING ARTISAN FOOD AND DRINK PRODUCERS” SAYS BBC GOOD FOOD

Staal Smokehouse in Long Riston has been deemed one of the “most deserving, small, independent artisan producers” in Britain as it receives a Producers Bursary Award from the BBC Good Food Show ““ one of only 24 family food firms in the country to receive the award.

The special award will give Staal the opportunity to exhibit free of charge at the prestigious BBC Good Food Show London this month, held at Kensington Olympia on November 14-16, and at subsequent shows in Glasgow, Birmingham and Harrogate.

“Without the bursary we ““ and other small business like us ““ wouldn’t be able to get to the major food shows and show shoppers and food lovers what we’re all about,” says Justin Staal, who set up the business with wife Georgina in 2010. “We are delighted to have been selected out of so many artisan producers to be the ones to show what delicious stuff Britain is made of!”

All entries to the Bursary Scheme are tasted at the BBC Good Food Test Kitchens by a team of experts, including BBC Good Food magazine editor, Gillian Carter, and Katy Truss.

Katy said “the judging panel was very impressed with the Staal Smokehouse range and it really stood out amongst the competition.
“The bursary is something of enormous prestige, and with many applicants and many outstanding products it was very difficult to decide on the winners!”
