Dark Woods Foundation Launches its 2026 Programme

The Dark Woods Foundation have announced the launch of their 2026 Kirklees Community Small Grants Programme along with its new website.

2026 marks the fourth year of the Community Small Grants scheme, which was originally founded and run by Dark Woods Coffee, a speciality coffee roaster based in West Yorkshire, before the creation of the Dark Woods Foundation.

Building on a long-standing commitment to supporting social and environmental projects both locally within West Yorkshire and internationally within rural grower-communities, the Programme supports charities, not‑for‑profit organisations, and community groups within Kirklees that are working to benefit the local community and the environment.

From the outset, the programme’s key aim has been to ensure the application process, conditions, and criteria remain as accessible and straightforward as possible, and the Foundation’s new website has been designed with this same principle in mind, allowing visitors to easily view scheme details and criteria and apply directly online.

In 2025, just over £20,000 was awarded across 45 different community projects within Kirklees, with eligible groups able to apply for grants ranging from £100 to £500 per project.

The small grants programme is divided into four rounds across the year, with the first round for 2026 now officially open, and applications closing at midnight on 22nd March.

The new site will also serve as a central hub for the Dark Woods Foundation to share exciting updates on new and ongoing projects.
