Get to know more about Yoyo Laos Sauce…
We are Yoyo & Frazer, wife and husband team from Laos and the UK and founders of Yoyo Laos Sauce. We’re on a mission to raise awareness of Laos and Lao food. Laos is located in the heart of Southeast Asia surrounded by Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, China and Myanmar and has a rich diversity that feeds into it’s cuisine.
Yoyo, originally started to make her ginger chilli sauce for friends and family but when Yoyo was struggling to find work and lockdown was coming, we decided to turn what was a hobby into a business. Based in Halifax, West Yorkshire we started to sell our sauces on Todmorden Market but things really took off when our original ginger chilli sauce was named the overall winner of the UK National Chilli Awards in 2022.
Every product is now a Great Taste Award winner and we produce both in the UK and in Laos partnering with a social enterprise so we can support employment in one of the poorest countries in Southeast Asia. In addition, we are believers in #sauceforgood so for every bottle sold, we donate 10p to mine clearance to help make countries like Laos safer (Laos is the most heavily bombed country in the world per capita, a legacy from the Vietnam war).
In addition to our sauces we have a range of peppers including Mak Khen, an exciting wild pepper from Northern Laos and salted green pepper which won 3 stars at the 2024 Great Taste Awards. We launch into Selfridges in March and Booth Supermarket in April 2025.
