North Yorkshire Roasters Launch Ethiopian Coffee.

North Yorkshire–based specialty producer Rounton Coffee Roasters has added a new release, Wako Jegso, to its award-winning range.

Sourced directly from the Yirgacheffe region of Ethiopia, the coffee comes from Halo Bariti, where members of the team visited last year, and is grown on land 2,100 metres above sea level that has been farmed for generations by Wako Jegso and his family.

Rounton Coffee’s Founder and Director David Beattie said: “Ethiopia is a place that every coffee professional dreams of visiting, but one that still manages to exceed every expectation.

“For many years, Wako sold his coffee to local processing stations for minimal returns, but now, with better support systems and improved market access, he has finally been able to realise the full potential of his land for producing exceptional coffee, and in turn secure a fair price for their labour.

“Seeing the realities behind the supply chain reminded us why relationships matter, why origin matters, and why coffee is about people first.

“Light and natural, Wako Jegso is bright and juicy with tasting notes of mango, peach and lime, and showcases the exceptional character of the coffee produced in the region. We’re genuinely excited and proud to share this latest release, as a celebration of heritage, relationships and the people behind the cup.”
