Over 40 charitable groups throughout the Scarborough area have received donations over the last 12 months thanks to the customers and staff of Proudfoot supermarkets.
The family-owned business, who have been operating within the town for over 70 years, raised and donated over £46,000 as part of the 2025 Co-op Wholesale Making A Difference Locally Charity (MADL) The business’ fundraising efforts have benefitted local groups and charities since 2008.
On top of this, both The Rainbow Centre and Westway Open Arms in Scarborough, who provide basic food provisions and emergency food parcels to local people who struggle to provide for themselves and their families, benefitted from donations of food to the value of £18,000, thanks to funds raised through the sale of their Proudfoot carrier bags.
Valerie Aston, co-director of the Proudfoot Group said “For Proudfoot, being embedded as part of our local community is important to what we do, whether it’s through supporting local charities, or hosting community events.
“We are thrilled at the contribution and support we’ve been able to give during 2025, and to see the benefit this has, enabling charities and good causes around the Scarborough area to continue to work and support those in need.”
