Whitby Distillery have officially opened their brand-new Whitby Spirits Shop just in time for the festive season.
Welcoming their first customers late last month, the new Church Street premises bring a fresh burst of coastal character to the Old Town.
Blending Whitby’s heritage with the distillery’s signature handcrafted spirits and warm hospitality, the new shop has been designed to reflect that of an old apothecary with deep navy cabinets, antique brass touches, and vintage detailing that echo Whitby’s seafaring past.
Luke Pentith, co-founder of Whitby Distillery, said: “Bringing Whitby Spirit Shop to life has been a real labour of love. We wanted to create a space that feels rooted in the town’s history but also celebrates everything we’re building for the future — from our coastal botanicals to the new Abbey Lands Distillery. We’re so excited to welcome people in.”
Each shelf has been thoughtfully curated to showcase the Distillery’s range, including Whitby Gin, Wyrmfyre Vodka, Coastal Curiosity releases, and the full family of rums. Visitors will enjoy free daily tastings, new festive treats and exclusive in-store products, along with a first look at the Spirits Walkway panels, soon to line the distillery’s new home.
The opening marks an important milestone in the distillery’s growth, creating new jobs and adding a dedicated year-round retail presence in the heart of the town. It also arrives at an exciting moment for the business as construction of the new Abbey Lands Distillery — located beside the iconic Whitby Abbey — is now well underway, bringing the vision of a world-class coastal distillery and visitor experience ever closer to reality.
