2023 Taste Awards Finalists

University of York School for Business and Society

Deliciously Yorkshire, the Regional Food Group for Yorkshire and the Humber, have announced their much-anticipated 2023 Taste Awards Finalists, in conjunction with headline sponsors University of York School for Business and Society and FixOurFood.

After a week of intense (but delicious!) judging by a panel of industry experts including chefs, food writers, buyers, consultants and critics, more than 300 entries were whittled down into this year’s list of finalists.

The Taste Awards, which are now in their 19th year cover an extensive range of both product and non-product categories. Along with the usual favourites, new for 2023 is the Best Sustainable Product category which is sponsored and judged by the University of York School for Business and Society and FixOurFood.

Head Judge, broadcaster and artisan food expert Nigel Barden said: “The Deliciously Yorkshire Taste Awards are always a week I look forward to, and yet again the county’s food and drink producers have done themselves proud!

“What a pleasure it is to judge such a huge variety of top-quality and innovative Yorkshire food and drink businesses, and as ever, narrowing it down into a shortlist of finalists for each category has been a serious challenge!”

Jointly headline sponsored by the University of York School for Business and Society and FixOurFood, this year’s Taste Award Champions will be announced at a glittering black-tie event at the Pavilions of Harrogate on Tuesday 7th November. Nigel Barden, alongside Yorkshire’s favourite Chef, Steph Moon, will host an evening of celebration, where guests will dine on a menu featuring many of the shortlisted products.

The Awards ceremony will also see the announcement of this year’s Judy Bell Yorkshire Food Hero Award, presented to an individual who has gone above and beyond to promote and champion the county’s food and drink industry. The evening will culminate with the announcement of the coveted 2023 Taste Awards Champion, awarded to the entry which this year’s judging panel deemed to be the overall standout product of the year.

Congratulations to all our shortlisted businesses and we look forward to seeing you all at the Pavilions in November!
