Dales cake firm celebrate national award

A family run wedding cake company based in the Yorkshire Dales are celebrating after winning a national industry award for the second year running.

Where the Ribbon Ends, based at Jervaulx Abbey Tearooms near Masham were awarded the Wedding Cake Maker/Designer of the Year accolade at The Wedding Industry Awards.

The business, run by sisters Gayle Hussan and Anna Burdon alongside their family run tea room, were awarded with a highly recommended in the regional finals in 2018 before taking home the top spot in 2019 and again this month for 2020.

After some tough competition reaching the regional finals, the designs and cake samples were then judged by nationally recognised industry professionals who whittled down the finalists into this year’s winners.

Gayle said: “We’re thrilled to of won this national award for a second year running and given that the awards are also judged on customer feedback across all areas, makes it all the more special.

“From the first consultation with new customers it is always our aim to pass on our passion for baking and decorating and making sure that we exceed their expectations and create a truly special cake for their big day.

“We enjoy thinking outside the box and although we have our own style, we encourage alternative ideas which helps create a truly bespoke product.”

In 2019, the team adapted part of Jervaulx Abbey Tearooms into a purpose made cake studio, offering a fantastic space to display their range of designs to get a real feel for what the team can create.
