We are a small artisan family bakery based on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors. We have a range of vegetarian and vegan flapjack, brownies, scones, fruitcake, bossy Bettys and shortbread.
Our journey started in 2001, when we opened a green grocer’s shop. In order to maximise profits, we used to make apple pies from bruised apples and banana bread from over ripe bananas.
After selling the fruit shop, we opened a gift shop and then I suffered a succession of heart attacks. As I needed to be kept really busy, to keep my mind off my health issues, I decided to turn the shop into a coffee and cake shop.
For the next 5 years, this kept me very busy, and I formulated all my own recipes with a couple based on my great aunt’s recipe books. In 2012, I sold the shop to pursue a more flexible business model and started selling at food markets, festivals, and pop ups.
