In the heart of Market Weighton, nestled between green fields and the familiar rhythm of a small market town, a small idea once began in a garden shed. It started as a continuation of a pastime that let Jago experiment and explore, not realising then that this quiet hobby would grow into something bigger.
As time passed, curiosity became passion, family and friends gathering to taste, encourage and eventually join in. What began as a few experimental batches soon turned into a steady routine of late nights, early mornings, and the kind of determination that only comes from doing something you truly enjoy.
Six years later, that humble beginning has become Wicstun Distillery- an artisan business rooted firmly in its Yorkshire home. Jago now leads the distillery with the same enthusiasm that sparked it all, supported by the people who believed in the journey from the start.
Among the distillery’s creations are spirits with stories of their own. Pickering Gin was developed in partnership with Pickering Community Interest Company, blending local cucumbers and watercress to celebrate the town and give back to its community. Scarborough Gin pays homage to Jago’s school years on the coast, capturing the place that shaped part of his life.
Alongside its gins, Wicstun Distillery also crafts four small-batch rums, as well as our best selling Toffee Vodka liqueur, and now Yorkshire Pudding Beer too! – each made with the same care and creativity that defined those early moments.
From our shed in Market Weighton to a fully fledged artisan distillery, Wicstun’s story continues to grow, shaped by community, craft and a love for what we do.
