The family run business in Pickering have been shortlisted in the Food and Drink Establishments category of the annual awards that champion family businesses across Yorkshire and Humberside.

Cedarbarn’s co-founder, Mandy Avison said: “Yorkshire is home to so many fabulous family businesses, and we’re grateful to Sue and Dave from The Family Business Community for hosting these awards that recognise the achievements and celebrate the successes of local family businesses.”

The popular Farm Shop and Café began life as a small PYO strawberries operation from a caravan 26 years ago and now is a thriving business, sourcing a large percentage of its produce from its own farm and a neighbouring farm supplemented with local suppliers.

Co-founder and Director of The Family Business Community, Sue Howorth, commented: “The quality of this year’s entries made the judges’ decisions extremely challenging. The finalists should be incredibly proud of their achievements. We’re looking forward to celebrating with all the family businesses in our region.”

Cedarbarn Farm Shop and Café faces competition from Elsworth at the Mill, Grassington House, Millers Fish & Chips, Rudding Park, The Balloon Tree Farmshop & Café and
Highfield House. The team will learn whether they have been successful at an awards ceremony hosted by food and drink broadcaster, Nigel Barden, at the Royal Armouries Hall in Leeds on 22nd November.
