Blood Orange & Vodka Sorbet

One for the grown ups only!  With warm spring weather almost up us add a little kick to your after dinner treat with this Seasonal blood orange & vodka sorbet from the award winning Shibden Mill Inn.



500g of blood orange juice

75g caster sugar

100ml vodka

100g liquid glucose

2 leaves of gelatine

250g water


  1. Start by soaking the gelatine in lukewarm water and set aside, then in a large
  2. saucepan bring the other ingredients to a slow simmer.
  3. Remove from the heat and leave to cool for 30 minutes. Once cool whisk in the softened gelatine leaves and the vodka and place in a plastic container.
  4. Put in the freezer for a couple of hours, then once it starts to freeze use a fork every hour or so the break the ice crystals up so that it forms a slushy constancy.
  5. Leave in the freezer overnight, serve with fresh fruit.
