Spicy Beans & Bangers

Main courseServes 4-6

The perfect autumnal supper, this Spicy Beans & Bangers recipe from the team at Bannisters Yorkshire Family Farm pairs their Baked Jacket Potatoes with gently spiced beans and sausages for a warming, hearty meal. For more recipe inspiration, visit www.bannistersfarm.co.uk Heat the oil in a large pan, add the onion and fry until pale golden. Add the carrot, celery and pepper to the pan and fry until soft, stirring occasionally. Add the garlic and spices and stir for 30 seconds. Stir in the tomatoes, puree, drained chickpeas and beans, with 100ml water, then bring the mixture to the boil. Cover and simmer for 20 mins.

  1. Meanwhile, cook the chipolata sausages under a medium grill, turning until browned on all sides. Allow to cool slightly.
  2. Uncover the beans and simmer for the final 5 minutes, until the sauce has thickened.
  3. Serve the beans spooned into hot potatoes with the sausages alongside.
  4. Fun idea: For added spooky fun, cut the sausages to resemble fingers and place a flaked almond at the end of each to look like a witch’s fingernail. Stick these into each of the bean-filled potatoes.
