Rounton Coffee Roasters has launched its first-ever line of sustainable specialty coffee pods.
The award-winning North Yorkshire based company, developed the range of fully compostable pods in response to customer requests, with the new product replicating the same quality and roast profiles of its three most popular coffees; The Rich Roast, Sparkling Water Decaf and Rwamatamu.
David Beattie, founder and director said: “Adding coffee pods to our range of products has been on our agenda for a long time and we’ve spent the last 12 months developing the process to meet our high standards.
“As a company, we place a high value on sustainability and do our best to reduce waste, so it was crucial for us to develop a product that was genuinely compostable and compromising on this was not an option. Our aim is to provide a more sustainable choice for our customers, while also helping to reduce single-use waste.”
The Nespresso-compatible coffee pods are certified by TÜV AUSTRIA, 100% organic and fully biodegradable. They have been designed to completely degrade within six months when disposed of in your home compost compared to aluminium pods which are difficult to recycle and plastic pods that take hundreds of years to break down.
Founded in 2013, the Rounton team have worked closely with farmers all over the world to source responsibly and work with producers and importers who are invested in the future of the coffee industry. Since 2021, they also have planted 7630 trees and provided £1526 towards projects helping farming communities and the environment.
