
A number of Yorkshire cheese producers are celebrating after being awarded medals at the prestigious British & Irish Cheese Awards recently.
The annual event, which showcases over 500 entries from cheesemakers throughout England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales is held at the Bath and West Showground, and the Awards are held in high regard within the industry, with each entry meticulously judged by a range of experts to determine the category winners.
North Yorkshire based Shepherds Purse Cheeses took home six awards for their artisan range including Gold for their Harrogate Blue, Yorkshire Blue, Bluemin White and Buffalo Blue cheeses, as well as a further 2 Silver medals for their Northern Blue and Mediterranean style Mrs Bell’s Salad Cheese.
St Helen’s Farm located near York were also awarded a silver for their Woldsway Mature Goats Cheese, whilst Castleford cheesemongers Cryer & Stott took home a Bronze for their Rhuby Crumble.
