The team behind hot sauce company YoYo Laos Sauce are celebrating after securing their first supermarket listing.
The Halifax based business who produce a range of sauces inspired by the flavours of Southeast Asia, will have their ginger chilli sauces stocked in each of Booths 27 supermarkets across the north of England from this month.
Founded and run by husband and wife Yoyo & Frazer, who hail from Laos and the UK, the couple are on a mission to raise awareness of Laos and its food.
Owner Yoyo said: “We originally started to make our Original Ginger Sauce for friends and family, but when I was struggling to find work and lockdown was coming, we decided to turn what was a hobby into a business and began selling our sauces on Todmorden Market. Things really took off when it was named the overall winner of the UK National Chilli Awards in 2022.
“Every one of our products is now a Great Taste Award winner and we produce both in the UK and in Laos, partnering with a social enterprise so we can support employment in what is one of the poorest countries in the region. We’re believers in #sauceforgood too, so for every bottle sold, we donate 10p to a mine clearance charity to help make countries like Laos safer.”
The new listing comes after an exciting few months for the South Yorkshire based couple who also won a coveted listing with Selfridges earlier this year.
