Blacker Hall Farm celebrate gold in prestigious craft butchery honours

Blacker Hall Farm are celebrating after being awarded a Gold in a national butchery competition recently.

The Wakefield based butchers took home the honour for their Steak, Jalapeno & Cheddar Burgers in the prestigious Smithfield Awards.

Organised by the Q Guild of Butchers, the awards celebrate excellence in craft butchery and product innovation across the UK.

More than 200 products were entered into what is widely regarded as the benchmark for quality in British craft butchery across eleven categories, with entries judged by a panel of industry experts, food writers and culinary professionals.

Established in 1999 by John Garthwaite, Blacker Hall Farm remains a family business today and is renowned for its award-winning 16-strong butchery team.

Ben Hardi, head of butchery at Blacker Hall Farm said: “Quality food is our craft. It’s shaped by experience and guided by people who genuinely know their trade and care deeply about it, so recognition like this really means something to us.

“We’re incredibly proud to receive the gold award from the Q Guild of Butchers. It reflects the hard work and dedication of the whole team, and the premium quality we strive to deliver every day. To be competing alongside some of the best craft butchers in the country is a real honour, and we’re excited to find out if our products will be crowned the best in the UK in London next month.”

The overall winners will be revealed at the official Smithfield Awards ceremony in London.
