BUTCHERS ARMS TRIALS BLOSSOMING NEW BREW

Country pub and restaurant, The Butcher’s Arms based in Hepworth, Huddersfield, has added a blossoming new beverage to its dessert menu for discerning tea drinkers. The Flowering Tea Blooms, skilfully handmade by Chinese artisans for speciality Doncaster tea company, The Tea Experience, are being trialled at the popular gastropub.

Diners will be able to enjoy the fragrant and delicate taste of Dragon’s Eye green tea, which contains calendula (marigold), a graceful arch of jasmine blossom and a striking red aramanth flower to create a fantastic floral finale.

Tim Bilton, chef/proprietor at The Butcher’s Arms and Deliciouslyorkshire Champion 2011/12 said: “We came across The Tea Experience at a local food and drink festival and was impressed with the quality and taste of its high grade loose teas and in particular with the amazing Flowering Tea Blooms. We are delighted to introduce this lovely light tea with a whispered hint of flowers to our diners.

“We pride ourselves on buying local and offering something a little bit different and I’m sure the new blooming brew will be enjoyed for its taste and will add the wow factor to afternoon tea! Our customers can enjoy the tea in the restaurant and can also buy it take home too,” continued Tim.

The Tea Experience was set up by former Royal Mail human resources manager, Ann Davis, from Doncaster, South Yorkshire, who lifted the lid on a new career by turning a hobby into a growing online speciality tea business. Originally selling traditional China teapots, after being inspired by a gift from her husband, Paul, the business is expanding and now offers a complete tea drinking experience from imported loose tea to tea ware and gifts.

Importing loose tea from the Far East and Europe from specialist tea importers and wholesalers, The Tea Experience ensures consistency of taste and quality for its customers. The husband and wife team have been lucky enough to travel and work in the Far East, mainly in China, over a number a years. Each trip provided the opportunity to try a variety of teas which often made them question the quality of what they were drinking at home.

Ann Davis, The Tea Experience said: “The Butcher’s Arms is now one of Yorkshire’s most popular gastropubs since it was revived by Tim and we are delighted that he has agreed to trial one of our range of Flowering Tea Blooms. We hope Tim’s customers enjoy the quality taste of our tea and that more varieties will be introduced.”
