About

Clarion

Clarion supports clients across the sector including producers, retailers and those in the supply chain, such as equipment manufacturers, logistics, packaging, IT, energy and waste management businesses, and other providers supporting the sector. We are passionate about working with companies ranging from owner managed businesses to multi-national listed corporates. We work with many household brands and retailer own brand suppliers, as well as with retailers themselves.

We offer clients the insight of lawyers immersed in the food and drink sector, providing practical solutions across all issues arising in the sector. We understand the approach taken by large multiple retailers and market leading suppliers, as well as start-up businesses. Our understanding of the challenges and pressures in the sector means we can provide strategic and commercially pragmatic advice.

We advise our food and drink clients on:

  • Business mergers, acquisitions and sales – we advise on a range of issues including corporate governance and business structures, acquisitions, joint ventures, disposals, restructuring and reorganisation.
  • Business finance – we act for both borrowers and lenders and many of the UK’s clearing banks, together with asset-based lenders.

  • Real estate – we provide a full range of property expertise required by our food and drink sector clients in site acquisitions, disposals, development, funding and tenancies.
  • Energy and waste – we have a breadth of experience advising on conventional and non-conventional energy projects, including upstream oil and gas, low carbon energy infrastructure and generation, all forms of renewables, energy from waste, district heating, decentralised energy and storage solutions, and metering solutions.
  • Regulatory advice – we provide strategic and practical advice and representation on food law, regulatory compliance, enforcement and prosecutions including in relation to food safety and hygiene, labelling, advertising and product launches.
  • Business restructuring, insolvency – we advise businesses suffering financial pressures, businesses interested in purchasing distressed companies, and also those who simply want to recover the maximum cash from an insolvent customer.

We regularly share sector insight and practical guidance through our content and events designed to reflect what’s really happening across the food and drink landscape.
