Comic Relief Shenanigans at Ye Old Sun Inn

Comic relief has come to Colton near York. On Thursday 14th March the locals will take over the running of the whole pub operation for one night only! Preparing, cooking, greeting, serving and all the other jobs that go to make an award winning country pub are in the hands of the customers. A specially designed 3 course dinner menu featuring a whole host of local producers has been put together by the Sun Inn chef’s to test and push the new team to their limits.
Jim Clelland, Colton villager and aspiring chef commented ‘We’re really up for the challenge, how difficult can it be?’ Chef and owner Ashley McCarthy ‘It was mentioned as a passing comment some time ago and the thought seems to have built up into a village frenzy -what have we done!’

Response to the evening has been immense and tables are being booked up very fast for the £30 per head menu, £5 going towards the Comic Relief charity as well as all the tips raised during the evening.

Ye Old Sun Inn recently received the Deliciously Yorkshire ‘Food Champion’ award for services towards local producers in November last year and are in the running for the nationally acclaimed ‘Bii Licensee of the Year 2013’ having reached the semi-finals with the result being announced in May at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
