A husband and wife team who started an online deli, delivering locally sourced produce amidst the pandemic are celebrating a successful first year in business.
Jamie and Ros Randall launched Cook’s Larder in September 2020 as an alternative to the traditional supermarket shop, offering a local delivery service of British produce with a particular focus on locally sourced Yorkshire artisan products.
Now a year on, the enterprising couple who were inspired to start the business after returning to their native Yorkshire from Australia with a fresh perspective on local food and drink, are utilising this viewpoint to make Cook’s Larder an integral part of the local community and building on their relationships with both local suppliers and customers alike.
Owner Jamie said: “Covid has challenged everyone over the last year and we hope we have provided a way to make everyone’s lives a little easier and more enjoyable.
“We’ve certainly received some great feedback over the last 12 months from our customers which is great and we’re looking forward to expanding our range and the number of local and regional businesses that we work with going forwards.
“We’ve added over 700 individual products to our website and 70% of those are from local companies sourced directly from Yorkshire, so we hope our story is a good one for the local community too”.
Cook’s Larder provides a quick, easy and convenient way to access a huge range of quality produce available throughout the county, all available for delivery fresh to customers doors each week, which in turn helps to support local farmers, producers and the wider community.
Ros continues, “In this world where vegetables are available all year round, we’ve tried to keep it seasonal and local which is more sustainable, more flavoursome and reduces the carbon food miles. Our aim is to support our British farmers and inform our customers on what’s in season as well as providing recipes for inspiration.”
“We love the way our customers have embraced this new way to ‘shop local’ and by delivering directly to our customer’s homes, we have the opportunity to hear what products they like and get recommendations for new ones to add! It keeps things fresh and interesting – there’s always something new being added”.
Looking forward, the team plan to continue to expand their range of locally sourced products introducing additional local beers, wines and spirits, plus a Yorkshire Christmas range which will be available shortly.
