Dark Woods Coffee takes home 22 Great Taste awards

The team at Marsden-based coffee roastery, Dark Woods Coffee, has been named among the top food and drink producers globally, after being awarded 22 Great Taste awards.

Their 2024 tally included three coveted 3-Star Awards, for their Black Hill, Colombia – Finca El, and Colombia – Orange & Cardamon Infusion, along with ten 2-Star Awards and nine 1-star awards, taking their total to over 100 awards in the past 7 years.

Known as the ‘Oscars’ of the food and drink world, the awards see thousands of products from across the world entered each year and put through a rigorous judging process to determine which products receive the coveted gold stars.

Paul Meikle-Janney from Dark Woods Coffee said: “We’re extremely proud of our results this year. The Awards have always been an important benchmark for us; being “blind tasted” by a panel of food and drink professionals, they give you a great insight into the quality and style of coffee that a wide range of coffee drinkers truly hold in high esteem.”

Described as “rich, deeply flavourful, dark chocolatey and nutty”, 3-star award-winning Black Hill was a big hit with the Great Taste judges. Made with speciality-grade arabica along with “Kaapi Royale” specialty robusta from the Harley Estate in India, it was one of only 266 products to receive 3-stars in 2024.
