Doncaster pie maker Toppings Pies is sending a taste of Yorkshire thousands of miles across the ocean after securing a new customer in the Falkland Islands.
The family-run business is preparing a shipment of its award-winning pork pies and sausage rolls for Chandlery in Stanley, marking one of its products’ longest journeys yet.
Due to leave Doncaster this week, the order will travel by sea and take several weeks to arrive. It includes products from the company’s new pre-packed range, designed for convenient, grab-and-go retail sales.
Owner Roger said: “It makes me very proud that a company so far away has chosen our products to stock its shelves. I’m glad the people of Stanley will be able to enjoy a little piece of Yorkshire. Never did I imagine that when we started making pies, we would be sending them to the far side of the world.”
A spokesperson for Chandlery said: “We’re thrilled to bring Toppings’ traditional, award-winning British pies and sausage rolls across the ocean to our shelves in the Falkland Islands. You can’t beat proper British quality and the authentic taste of South Yorkshire, and we know our local community is going to love them!”
Based in Doncaster, Toppings Pies specialises in handmade pork pies, sausage rolls, quiches and other savoury products.
With a focus on quality, traditional craftsmanship and locally sourced ingredients wherever possible, the company has built an award-winning reputation, receiving more than 60 Great Taste Awards.
