Keelham Farm Shop has been recognised for its commitment to championing fresh, locally-sourced produce at the 2018 Fresh Awards.
The family run firm who have shops in both Thornton and Skipton were awarded the Independent Retailer of the Year accolade at the prestigious event in London earlier this month.
The company was one of two independent Yorkshire businesses to win top accolades, with Keelham supplier, Leeds-based GT Produce Ltd, also winning Wholesale Supplier of the Year.
Commenting on the award win, Victoria Robertshaw, co-owner of Keelham Farm Shop said: “For more than forty years we have championed fresh food and ingredients and the whole team are thrilled to win this award. We’re proud to work with so many fantastic Yorkshire producers and the evening was made even more special seeing GT Produce, which supplies our shops with wonderful fresh produce, win an award.
“GT Produce, which has expanded rapidly over the last few years, is a fantastic example of the network of wholesalers we have in the region that are vital to supplying independent retailers with tasty, locally-sourced, affordable produce. At a time when much of the independent retail sector is struggling, these award wins are proof that here in Yorkshire, innovative companies like Keelham and GT Produce are helping the sector to not only thrive, but grow.”
The awards ceremony, which was attended by more than five hundred guests and hosted by TV actor and presenter, Shane Richie at the Pavilion at the Tower of London, celebrates the outstanding achievements of individuals and businesses working in the UK fresh produce industry.
Keelham has earned a reputation for offering its customers great-tasting, locally-sourced fresh ingredients, with more than 70% of its sales made up of fresh produce, either from Keelham’s own farm and production facilities or its network of 400+ farmers, producers and suppliers.
