Drewton’s Farm Shop sponsors the Wilsons Wheels cycle race team

As cycling fever grips the region in the run-up to the Tour de Yorkshire, Drewton’s Farm Shop near South Cave has provided sponsorship to the Beverley-based Wilsons Wheels cycle race team.

The new kit has already proved lucky for the team; Nathan Wilson and Karl Downes won the Hull Thursday 2-up Time Trial at the weekend wearing their smart new Drewton’s-branded jerseys.

Working in conjunction with Drewton’s Farm Shop, Wilsons Wheels is offering a limited number of places on a unique, four-day ‘Detour de Yorkshire’ Cycling Experience for cycling enthusiasts who want to explore the region. The programme offers participants the chance to enjoy guided rides along sections of the route, as well as cycling out to the best vantage points when Stage 1 of the race gets underway on 1 May. They’re guaranteed a place at the very heart of the action when Stage 2 of the race passes through Newbald the following day.  Meals at Drewton’s Farm Shop and other local eateries are included. Wilsons Wheels team member Miles Flather said: “After a few visits to Drewton’s Farm Shop on coffee and cake stops, the team made contact with the shop’s proprietor, Katie Taylor, to discuss working together at the inaugural Tour de Yorkshire. We’d like to thank Katie and Drewton’s for their sponsorship. We look forward to an exciting weekend when the Tour de Yorkshire passes through our area in May.”

Katie Taylor, proprietor of Drewton’s said: “This is East Yorkshire’s moment to shine and we couldn’t be more excited! We’re proud to be working in conjunction with the Wilsons Wheels race team.”

Taking place between 1 and 3 May, the Tour de Yorkshire will be one of the biggest cycle races in the UK in 2015, not to mention one of the most exciting dates in the international cycling calendar. Some of the top international teams will be taking part, and the action will be broadcast live on TV in the UK and across Europe.
