Drewton’s Farm Shop near South Cave will hit the road when the Tour de Yorkshire comes to nearby North Newbald in early May to help raise funds for the village church.
Proprietor of the popular farm shop Katie Taylor is organising a family party with live music and entertainment at Field House on Burgate in North Newbald on Saturday 2 May. Field House is located alongside the route for Stage 2 of the race, giving guests a prime position from which to view the action.
Tickets for the event are priced at £5 for adults and £2.50 for children up to 12 years. There will be a range of food stalls and a bar, where guests can buy drinks, ice cream and snacks.
Katie said: “We wanted to organise an event that would enable the local community to benefit from the economic boost that the Tour de Yorkshire will bring to our little corner of Yorkshire, so proceeds from the party will go towards the fundraising campaign to provide new disability access doors at the village church.
“When the Tour de France came to Yorkshire last year, it was wonderful for our county; it put Yorkshire on a worldwide stage. We’re especially pleased to hear that those areas of Yorkshire that were not part of the route last year will host the Tour de Yorkshire this year.”
“As well as showing visitors what this part of the world has to offer, it’s a wonderful opportunity for us to get out into Newbald to help the community use this exciting event as a fundraising opportunity.”
Taking place between 1 and 3 May, the Tour de Yorkshire will be one of the biggest cycle races in the UK in 2015, not to mention one of the most exciting dates in the international cycling calendar. Some of the top international teams will be taking part, and the action will be broadcast live on TV in the UK and across Europe.
