An East Yorkshire based farm shop are celebrating after being shortlisted for three prestigious awards.
Two products from Drewton’s Farm Shop at South Cave; their Yorkshire sausages and sausage rolls have been shortlisted in the national final of Delicious magazines inaugural awards, while the shop’s owner Katie Taylor is among six other business women shortlisted for the Barclays Yorkshire Women in Business Awards 2016.
Both products which are made in-house at the shop, which is part of the Drewtons Estate, use only the finest locally sourced ingredients from the farm shop’s extensive network of Yorkshire-based farmers, growers and suppliers.
The products were shortlisted after being assessed by Delicious magazines regional panel of judges, who commented: “Our North East panel were impressed with Drewton’s commitment to sourcing Yorkshire produce and provenance being built into the business concept.
Drewton’s Farm Shop is one of only nine food and drink producers from the North East of England to be chosen to go through to the national finals in London on 14 July, when a panel of highly regarded judges will taste all of the shortlisted products and decide upon the final winners.
The announcement comes hot on the heels of Drewtons’ owner Katie Taylor being shortlisted for her own prestigious award, the winner of which will be announced at an awards ceremony at Bowcliffe Hall at Bramham near Wetherby on Friday 24 June.
Katie said: “I was surprised and thrilled to be nominated for this award; it’s a real honour to be shortlisted alongside six of the region’s top businesswomen. The awards evening promises to be a wonderful celebration of women in business here in Yorkshire and I’m very much looking forward to it.”
