Driffield poultry business showcases innovative water treatment system

Soanes Poultry welcomed over 20 water industry experts to its Middleton on the Wolds base for an industrial site tour to showcase its innovative waste water treatment system recently.

The tour was hosted by Shipley business Greener Waste Technology and was designed to demonstrate what can be achieved when companies approach water treatment differently and use an innovative solution.

Greener Waste Technology’s Business Development Manager, Lucy Reah, outlined the rationale for the visit: “Industrial water treatment and municipal treatment often rely on the same standard solutions that have been in circulation for years. People don’t associate being green or innovative with cost savings and that tends to dissuade people from trying new ideas. We wanted to showcase the unique approach that Soanes took and to demonstrate the benefits they gained.

“The visitors included representatives from Yorkshire Water and Ancala Water Services and feedback was really positive. There was lots of interest in the Modular Reed Bed concept which is seen as a step change in reed bed technology. The day showed that innovation is an accessible choice to anyone and was an incredibly eye-opening and inspiring day.”

Soanes Poultry’s Operations Manager, Tim Brooks is delighted with the water treatment system: “Thanks to Greener Waste Technology’s guidance, we were able to use the waste water treatment upgrade as an opportunity to push the boundaries of traditional design with an environmentally responsible alternative to concrete and carbon heavy materials.”

Soanes Poultry is a family owned business that has been rearing and preparing chicken for 72 years. It supplies butchers and independent retailers in Yorkshire and wholesalers nationwide.

Greener Waste Technology is part of the Adaptive Control Group and provides innovative solutions to the challenges of sewage recycling.
