The Yorkshire Wagyu Company won the Chamber Bridlington and Yorkshire Coast Business Awards prize for Best Start Up Business at a glittering ceremony at Bridlington Spa on Friday, 16th October.

Eleven members of The Yorkshire Wagyu Company team were present at the prestigious event that is presented by the Hull & Humber Chamber of Commerce and is now in its ninth year. It is one of the area’s leading business events and recognises the achievements of East and North Yorkshire businessmen and women.

Director Jonathan Shepherd said: “We’re very proud to have won this high profile award that will help us to put The Yorkshire Wagyu Company on the culinary map.”

After two years spent establishing one of the biggest herds of full and cross bred Wagyu beef in the UK, Wolds farmers Jonathan Shepherd and Jim Bloom launched The Yorkshire Wagyu Company to sell their premium beef direct to selected farm shops and restaurants throughout Yorkshire.

Wagyu beef originates from Japan where it is renowned for its exceptional flavour and melt in your mouth tenderness and its high levels of ‘good’ monounsaturated fats that give the beef its characteristic marbling.
