Kate Balchin was delighted to receive the award and said; “The Red Ribbon Awards are the only national awards to recognise the contribution that family businesses of all sizes make to the British economy. It’s the first time that we have entered and we are very proud that our team of 14 has won the award for Innovation and has put the Yorkshire Wolds on the family business map.”

Now in its fourth year, the annual awards ceremony was a dazzling event that brought together eminent guests from some of the UK’s biggest and most-loved family businesses including East End Foods, The Cambridge Satchel Company and The Goring Hotel.

Winner of the ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award, Michel Roux Jr. treated guests to an after dinner speech about his journey following in the footsteps of the famous Roux brothers and this was followed by entertainment from the Military Wives Choir and a Charity Auction with money-can’t-buy prizes that raised almost £10,000 for Help for Heroes and Fields of Life.
