Eastfield Garden Centre To Hold Spring Tasting Day

Eastfield Garden Centre will be giving visitors a chance to savour some of the finest Yorkshire food and drink when it holds a Spring Tasting Day on
April 5.

Between 11am and 3pm, visitors will be able to sample Yorkshire delicacies such as cheese, liqueurs, real ale, cooking and salad oils, chocolates, biscuits, pork pies, sausage rolls and spices.

Joan Stephenson, from Eastfield Garden Centre, said: “We held a food tasting event on Yorkshire Day last year (August 1) and because people enjoyed it so much we decided to hold another event in the Spring rather than wait until this year’s Yorkshire Day.”

Yorkshire companies taking part in the tasting include SLOEmotion, Great Newsome Brewery, The Twisted Chilli, Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil, Whitaker’s Chocolates and Moordale Foods.

The Spring Tasting Day is a further example of Eastfield’s increasing focus on fine foods and ingredients. Since its Fine Foods Hall opened in April 2009 it has expanded in size and sales by almost a third.

“Part of the reason for this is that we have responded to the strong demand for food and drink supplied by companies from Yorkshire. Another factor is that television programmes such as ‘The Great British Bake Off’ have greatly increased interest in home cooking and baking,” said Joan.
