Farmer Copley’s celebrate 20 years in business

Award-winning farm shop Farmer Copleys are celebrating 20 years in business this month.

Founded back in 2003 by Robert and Heather Copley, after the couple decided to return to the family farm in South Yorkshire with plans to diversify, having previously worked in cattle breeding and agronomy in Dorset.

The Copley family has been farming for over 140 years but came to Ravensknowle Farm, where Farmer Copley’s is based in 1967.

Since that time the business has changed dramatically, becoming an important part of the local community with a thriving farm shop, Moo Café, function space and events centre, all created with the aim to showcase the best of British agriculture and get people engaged with the countryside

Owner Heather said: “It’s 20 years ago, since we made the decision to open the doors on a new, very, very small farm shop and butchery counter at the family farm, 2 weeks before Christmas – what could go wrong?

“We thought we might get a customer or two to keep us busy, but from that day onwards it’s just been madness, with the farm shop extended countless times, along with adding a cafe, then a new building for a bigger Café and functions space more recently Copleys Kitchen.

“We absolutely love working on the farm but know it would be nothing without our wonderful customers.  We can’t wait to see what the future brings and are looking forward to the next 20.”
