Farmer Copleys Pumpkin Festival returns for 2020

Award-winning farm shop Farmer Copleys have announced plans for their 2020 Pumpkin Festival next month.

The popular annual event which is held on farm each year, will feature over 130,000 pumpkins of every shape, size and colour planted across their 20 acre site.  Visitors will be able to select their perfect pumpkin from over 20 different varieties before heading to the carving tents to create their lantern design.

Owner Heather Copley said: “It’s certainly been a bit of a strange year, but we’re excited to be able to run our Pumpkin Festival again this year and we’re determined to bring some smiles back to people’s faces and most importantly keeping everyone safe!

“Our fantastic team have planted over 130,000 pumpkins and we’ll have all the usual festivities including our ‘Not so’ Wicked Witch’ who’ll be flying in to make an appearance as well as some exciting new things for 2020.”

The festival sees the start of the Autumn season for the Pontefract based farm shop who were able to adapt and keep trading throughout the spring and summer lockdown by changing their business into a drive-thru to keep customers safe and introducing deliveries and a click and collect services throughout.

Run by fourth generation farmers Robert and Heather Copley who returned to Yorkshire in 2003 to set up the farm shop and butchery, the business has since gone from strength to strength and is now one of the best known in the country with a huge selection of produce made in house in their onsite bakery as well as an award-winning café and restaurant.

Heather continues “Once you’ve picked your perfect pumpkin, you can carve it here on site in our sheltered carving tents with help from our team to take off the lid and to clean up the mess (and save having it all over the kitchen at home!)

“We’ve got loads of choices when it comes to eating with us too including our Farm Shop, Moo Café, Witches Kitchen Marquee, Farmer Copleys on the Mooooove Food Van, as well as our toffee apples, cinnamon doughnuts, gelato, crepes and much more.”
