A Yorkshire Dales preserve maker have added to their range of award winning preserves with a new Red Onion & Port Marmalade ahead of the festive season getting underway.
Rosebud preserves, based in Masham have been making its jams, marmalades, chutneys and jellies at from their farm since 1989 after the company’s founder Elspeth Biltoft set about creating the range using locally sourced produce whenever possible and using traditional recipes.
As well as selling direct, the products can also be bought from fine food retailers, such as Whole Foods Market, Neal’s Yard Dairy, Castle Howard Estate and are served with breakfast at The Berkeley Hotel, London. The company also exports its products – since 1992 it has been exporting to the United States of America.
Piquant, full-bodied and richly savoury with red onions, mollased sugar and ruby port, the new Red Onion & Port Marmalade was created to be the perfect accompaniment for blue stilton and cold meats making it perfect for the Christmas period.
Founder Elspeth says: “Our Sweet Onion Marmalade has been a firm favorite for many years but it can often divide opinion. We hope that those who perhaps thought it was a little too sweet and would prefer a richer, more savoury, alternative would approve of this new addition to our range.
“We worked on a number of recipes but eventually settled on Red Onion & Port Marmalade, made with, softly cooked red onions, redcurrant juice, lightly spiced with black peppercorns, cinnamon, cloves and a generous measure of ruby port.
“Although this Marmalade can of course be enjoyed all year round, we wanted it to become a Christmas staple, particularly with Blue Stilton, the quintessential festive cheese.”
Rosebud’s other seasonal products are available to purchase in gift boxes ahead of the festive seasons and include their Cranberry & Orange Sauce with Port, Redcurrant Jelly, Boxing Day Chutney Cumberland Sauce with Port, Pickled Oranges and Christmas Chutney amongst others.
