Herb Fed Poultry is celebrating a double success at the Great British Food Awards 2026, winning Gold for its Whole Herb Fed Chicken and Bronze for its Poultry Gravy.
The family-run business near Easingwold took the top honour in the Poultry category, with its gravy recognised in Cooking Kits and Cooking Sauces.
Organised by Great British Food magazine, the awards celebrate the best food and drink produced in the UK. Entries are blind tasted by chefs, food writers and industry experts, with judges including Raymond Blanc, Adam Handling, Charlie Stein and William Sitwell.
Run by husband-and-wife team Edward and Emma Wilkinson, Herb Fed rears free-range birds slowly in open fields, allowing time for their meat to develop texture and flavour. The flock enjoys more than ten varieties of fresh herbs grown on a neighbouring farm run by Edward’s cousin.
Its Poultry Gravy starts with stock made from the bones of its own birds, which is reduced and thickened, then enhanced with roasted chicken wings for added depth of flavour.
Edward said: “We’ve always reared our birds slowly, outdoors, with fresh herbs to forage, because that’s what gives the meat its texture and flavour. To see our Whole Herb Fed Chicken take Gold, with the gravy we made to go with it alongside, means a great deal to the whole team.”
The award-winning chicken and gravy, alongside Bronze turkeys and Christmas roosters, are available to order now at herbfedpoultry.co.uk and stocked in Fodder, Weetons, Fortnum & Mason and Castle Howard amongst others.
