Hambleton Brewery among Great Taste winners

The team at Hambleton Brewery are celebrating after being awarded a coveted 3-stars as part of the 2019 Great Taste Awards.

Hambleton, who are based near Ripon were awarded the highly prized accolade for their Nightmare Porter, a 5.0% four malt porter.

Known as the Oscars of the food and drink world The Great Taste Awards received some 12,772 products this year from over 100 different countries.  Products are judged by a panel of industry experts including food critics, chefs, cooks, restaurateurs, buyers, retailers and producers and awarded a star rating accordingly, with 3 stars being the highest available.

As well as a badge of honour, the unmistakeable black and gold Great Taste label is a signpost to a wonderful tasting product.

Established in 1991 by Nick Stafford, Hambleton Brewery has grown from a garden shed based project to a multi award winning business producing cask, keg and bottled beers as well as a range of monthly specials.

Managing Director Rachel Harrison said: “This is the first time we’ve entered the competition, and we were just hoping to get recognition with at least a one-star rating, which in itself is hugely difficult to achieve. To then find out we were awarded 3 stars, the top rating possible, is a dream come true. The team here at the brewery are all hugely excited, and we will all be celebrating with a pint of Nightmare Porter!”
