Harewood to Reveal Secrets

The team at the Harewood Food and Drink Project are set to launch their second ‘Hidden Harewood’ dining experience after the success of their first event in the summer.

‘Winter In the Woods’ will run from 7 – 10 December, and will take diners on another immersive journey through the Harewood estate with food cooked by acclaimed chef and past MasterChef: The Professionals 2016 contestant Josh Whitehead, who will be returning with another innovative tasting menu.

Celebrating the best of the estate’s food and drink production; Hidden Harewood offers adventurous foodies the chance to dine with a difference and discover the hidden corners of the grounds – with exclusive access to the estate’s secret places, some of which have never been open to the public before.

The pop-up events sit alongside a growing range of products, developed in conjunction with carefully selected and award-winning local artisan producers, incorporating produce from the Harewood estate.

Eddy Lascelles, Director of the Harewood Food and Drink Project, said: “we are ushering in a new dawn for produce at Harewood, collaborating with a host of experts to bring you the extraordinary, the intriguing and the experimental – blending our age-old Yorkshire roots with some vibrant new school thinking and so far have been blown away by the results and the positive feedback that we have received for both the products and the pop-up dining experiences’.

In collaboration with Harrogate based award winning gin distillers, Whittaker’s, the first product to be launched was the Harewood Greystone Gin.   Named after the 4,000 year old the iconic Greystone rock on the estate which features a series of concentric circles pecked out of the rock with a deer antler, the gin features hand-picked mulberries from the 100 year old tree growing on the shores of Harewood lake and foraged elderberries from the estate.

This was followed by a series of seasonal beers produced by the expert teams at Quirky Ales and Ilkley brewery along with a forthcoming Plum Porter which is currently in production with multi-award winning Knaresborough based brewery Roosters which is made using plums from the estate.
