HECK! launches series of staff health initiatives

Bedale based HECK! are launching a series of incentives to keep their staff healthy and happy at its head office and factory in 2025.

Following the introduction of their free workplace health checks last November, spearheaded by co-founder Jamie Keeble who had testicular cancer 10 years ago, the food company is rolling out a series of initiatives, including revamping the canteen menu to offer a host of healthier food choices and introducing a wellness area for employees to take advantage of during their breaks.

In November last year, the entire HECK! workforce had access to free health screening tests, as part of its CHECK! campaign which raised over £20,000 for men’s health charity Cahonas. All employees could come in for a health MOT and receive advice and referrals to their GP if needed. Due to its success, the screening programme will now become a regular event each year.

Jamie Keeble said: “We invest a significant amount of our profit back into our team and the community.  During lockdown we created a “walking ambassador” to get our factory workers out and about during lunchtime to get some fresh air around the 800 acre farm and since then we’ve created the H.E.C.K. Care Code – a comprehensive guide on our commitments to Health, Environment, Community and Kindness.”

The family-run company also has an allotment and greenhouse, and employees are encouraged to pick fruit, vegetables and salad to either enjoy in the canteen or take home.
