HECK to host Spooktacular Halloween Farmers Market

The team at Bedale based food company HECK are set to host their fourth farmers market next weekend, but his time with a spooky twist.

Celebrating the best of local food and drink, this month’s market will take place on Saturday 30th October between 11am and 3pm and will feature frighteningly good fun for the whole family, including the dog!

Aimed at supporting local, independent producers in and around the county, stalls will include produce from a range food and drink businesses to take home and enjoy including drinks from small distillers, craft brewers and cider producers, cakes, bakes, cheesecakes and puddings, plus coffee, eggs, cheeses, preserves, chutneys and pies.

The HECK team will also be firing up the BBQ and serving a free HECK-dog for everyone on arrival, while the company’s factory outlet shop will be open for visitors to stock up on tasty bangers, burgers and mince at discounted prices including their Guy Porks special edition sausages for Bonfire night, made with pork, diced apple and a hint of black treacle.

For a glimpse into the future and following their recent appearance on Channel 5’s This Week on the Farm, the team will also be offering visitors to the market tours of their new vertical farm and it hi-tech growing method supplying fresh basil and other herbs for the firm’s sausages and burgers.

Visitors should dress to impress as part of the Halloween fancy dress competition for children and dogs and prizes will be awarded for the best-dressed people and pooches, as well as plus pumpkin picking and carving, face painting and garden games throughout.

HECK’s Event Coordinator Elisia Watson said: “We’re all set for some frighteningly good fun this month at our fourth farmers’ market. We all love Halloween here at HECK, so have made sure this community event is packed with tricks and treats for all ages!”
