Hornsea Farm Shop wins national taste awards

The team at an East Yorkshire coast farm shop is celebrating after winning two coveted One Gold Stars at the prestigious Great Taste 2014 awards.
Hornsea Freeport Outlet Village based William’s Farm Kitchen won the accolades for its Beef Burgers and Cumberland Sausage in the world’s largest and most rigorous food awards scheme that involved over 400 judges and thousands of hours of blind tasting.

William’s Farm Kitchen owner, Mark Farnsworth, said: “We have always been confident of creating a great tasting product as we use the best East Yorkshire produced meat in Givendale beef and outdoor reared pork from Anna’s Happy Trotters. This latest success comes on the back of last year’s Great Taste awards for our Lincolnshire Sausage and Stuffed Pork Fillet and is a real credit to the in house butchery team.”

Organised by the Guild of Fine Food, Great Taste is the largest and most trusted accreditation scheme for speciality and fine food & drink. Established in 1994, it encourages and mentors artisan food producers, offering a unique benchmarking and product evaluation service leading to an independent accreditation that enables small food and drink businesses to compete against supermarket premium own label brands. In total more than 12 judges will have tasted and commented on each product.
