Huddersfield Ice Cream Company wins contract with local Co-operative stores

Huddersfield ice cream producer Yummy Yorkshire has been appointed to supply three branches of a Co-operative in the Holme valley, Kirklees, West Yorkshire.

Yummy Yorkshire will be supplying 500ml and 120ml take away tubs of chocolate, caramel fudge, strawberry and vanilla ice cream to the Wooldale Co-operative Society which includes stores in Wooldale, Thongsbridge and New Mill.

Yummy Yorkshire, which supplies restaurants, gastro pubs, visitor attractions and farm shops across Yorkshire including a number in the Holme Valley area, is delighted to be working with another local business which is heavily involved in the local community.

The Wooldale cooperative is completely independent and owned by members living in the surrounding area and run by a voluntary board of directors. The cooperative employs 35 local people, many of whom are school leavers entering the world of work for the first time.

Peter Barraclough, Co-op General Manager says: “We chose to sell Yummy Yorkshire Ice Cream because of its superior quality, range and the fact that it reflects the goodness and enterprise of the Holme Valley.”

Jeremy Holmes, co-founder of Yummy Yorkshire, adds: “We’re always keen to work with independent, local business and are pleased to be supplying our ice cream to these three stores that are so close to home.

“The Wooldale Co-Operative Society will help make our ice cream available to people from across the Holme Valley all year round. I hope that this will be the beginning of a positive long term relationship for Yummy Yorkshire.”
