JUST DESSERTS LAUNCHES NEW YORKSHIRE PARKIN

Award-winning Yorkshire bakers and patissiers, Just Desserts of Shipley, has launched its own-recipe Yorkshire Parkin for the foodservice and hospitality markets. The perfect parkin has been introduced to the range for caterers to serve up at Bonfire Night and beyond.

A Northern English version of gingerbread, the parkin is baked in 8″ x 4″ loaves and made with butter, dark muscovado sugar, oatmeal, black treacle and ground ginger to a traditional recipe that has been adapted and improved by the Just Desserts baking team.

Already shortlisted for this year’s Deliciouslyorkshire Awards along with its Timothy Taylor Fruit Cake (a 2 star Great Taste Award winner), the new Yorkshire Parkin delivers an authentic spicy and sticky taste and offers caterers versatile serving possibilities ““ serve warm with ice cream or custard or whizz it through a milk shake or just a plain slice for traditionalists. 1 x 3 loaves £10.00 / £0.55 per portion.

James O’Dwyer, managing director, Just Desserts said: “Our bakers have been trawling through recipes since early Summer, looking for the perfect parkin taste and flavour. We couldn’t find it, so we created our own and think we’re onto a winner. It’s a cross between gingerbread and cake with a real taste of Yorkshire and whilst traditionally eaten at Bonfire Night, we can see it being a staple, all-year-round parkin pud for caterers.”
